K.C.'s daughters must be strong
Of heart and mind and limb,
Have sparkling eyes, be full of life,
Of vigor, and of vim.

And when with listless eye and heart,
With downcast mien they come,
No wonder they are straightway told
To take gymnasium.

At first the girls protest and say
It's much too strenuous,
But soon you'll find them taking it
In spite of all their fuss.

New bloomers blue and black ties
We find two times a week
Adorning the young ladies fair
Who health and strength must seek.

1, 2, 3, 4, right about face!
Now backward throw your head,
Breathe deeply, fill your lungs with air--
'Tis good for you, 'tis said.

At first is seems impossible,
But gradually, day by day,
We find they're changed entirely
And now they're bright and gay.

And as the autumn wanes to winter,
They think of indoor sports,
So up the steps they wend their way
Toward the basketball courts.

What happiness is on the face
Of the team that wins the prize!
They're grateful now for what they called
That "hateful exercise."

The last of May they leave the school,
And what a change we see!
Gone are the thin, anemic girls
Of stiffened joint and knee.

So to you all we recommend,
Whose health outlook is glum,
A good stiff course such as you'll find
In our gymnasium.
